Testimonial
From a family that attended this course

Joe attended a few of the dyslexia Parent and Child workshops last year and I'm very pleased to say that his end of term report glowed. The teachers at his school said that during last October they were nearing the point where he was giving up. As at May, all his subjects were rated as good or better and we've now established that his problem is only spelling - he was convinced that he wasn't very clever - and he's now comfortable with the fact and is working on it. Now he actually explains maths to his classmates and has attended sessions at the senior school for gifted and able - in science. (Interestingly the teachers thought he was rubbish at art, we took some of his Transformer pictures in and convinced them otherwise, it was just a matter of engagement… Following his sessions at Mab Lane he became much more comfortable with a pen in his hand and he drew pictures - a lot of pictures)

He still talks about his trips to Liverpool and the friends he made, it was obvious that he enjoyed his time and the lessons he took on, this all helped his confidence and added to the efforts he obviously made and the results on his end of year report. At the beginning of the year he was promised a PSP if he made 50 house points - at the beginning of the year he was getting them for effort, by March it was for quality of work. He got his PSP in April.

We were all made to feel really welcome and we too made friends and enjoyed the trips. We are going to the Everton game tomorrow (no more 1-6 defeats please!) and no doubt the subject will come up again, and we'll reminisce about Mab Lane and the funny accents.

So, thanks very much June, Neil and all the staff at Mab Lane, you helped make the difference.
